Rain, Grain and Birds
Rain, grain and birds is the perfect combination for great dove hunting! We are an outfitter that actually farms our own fields for dove hunting. This is a year round process. Farming over 1000 acres takes a full time staff. Spraying, discing, planting and cultivating takes alot of hard work. Sunflowers, milo and wheat is the seed that we concentrate on. None of the grain we plant is harvested until after the dove season is over. By doing this and with controlled hunting pressure we will hold birds throughout the hunting season from the beginning of September until the end of October. This will ensure that the hunters who are not able to come out in the beginning of the season will still have birds.
It's Almost Here
The 2012 dove season is less than 3 weeks away, and things are shaping up to be a great year. We were fortunate enough to receive rains throughout spring. The sunflower and wheat fields are packed with seeds, with flocks of dove already flying in to eat.
We're kicking off the season with our annual HH Outfitters BBQ. Day hunters signed up for opening weekend are encouraged to come out and have a great time.
Day 1 BBQ: August 31 at 4:00pm
Day 2 BBQ: September 1 at 11:00am
Fields Are Looking Great!!!
Daniel has just finished cultivated three sunflower fields and six milo fields. Pictures and birds will be coming soon!!!
A New Year
We are in the process of preparing our fields for the upcoming 2012 dove season. We will be planting over 800 acres in grain such as corn, milo and sunflowers, which will not be harvested till after the dove season. Due to the high demand of calls and e-mails concerning booking for the 2012 dove season, we have now opened registration. Please feel free to call Valerie at (210) 535-2739. As always, we are very excited for the upcoming season and are very hopeful for a great year!!!
On another note, we are very saddened by the loss of our co-worker Bonnie Conn. Many of you may remember Bonnie as the lady with a beautiful smile who helped serve at the barbecues and also worked at the lodge. She fought a very courageous battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on January 29,2012. We will miss her very much and she will always be remembered.
We had the opportunity to have Camo Life and Ambush Firearms hunt witth us this past week. I am happy to say that we had a very successful hunts. All together they shot a total of 7 management deer. Be sure to tune in April and watch Double H Outfitters as we will be featured on the Camo Life Show.
